Project #1 Brainstorming #2 (1-29-08)

So, after the in-class discussion I cannot actually say i have any new or better ideas for my blog. As for pictures, last time i checked i still had an existing collection of about 300+ pictures that were taken during the trip. Hopefully i will find ones that are appropriate to what i decide to write about in my blog. As where they will be placed will have to wait untill my story has actually been written. Don't worry though, i'll fill you in as soon as i know more (or when the assignment is turned in).

Project #1 Brainstorming (1-29-08)

Though this is just a rough estimate of what I plan to write about for our first project I feel that it will help me sort out some of the ideas that are currently running though my mind. To begin with I am not sure where I would like to begin. Depending on how long the body of the story is I may go as far back as arriving at JFK international airport, but most likely I will start my story already in Israel. The finishing point for my story will end with getting back on an Air Plane to head home. Once again though depending on the length of the body I may include information about the flight back. After all, an 11 1/2 hour plane flight is an adventure in itself, a boring one, but an adventure none the less.

Though originally I was planning on telling a story of a single day of the trip, but having had time to give this further thought, I now believe i will segment the story into a couple days of the trip and highlight the better parts of it. I will either break things down day-by-day, or most likely by event.

Also, though there may be many characters within the story, the most prominent ones will be my friends Heidi, and Deva. Though as a couple they work together, they both are very distinct characters based on how I interact with them. For instance, Heidi seems to be a little more grounded and cautious, where as every now and then I can get Deva to go along with some of my not so great ideas. For instance, wandering off into the Arab Market in Jerusalem without any real security, and against our tour guides recommendation.

Finally, as we run out of time in class I am not sure that there will be much of any contest/puzzles in this story, but it is alwasy easy to add drama in one form or another.

Ideas for assignment #1

To be honest I am not totally sure of what I want to write about for assignment #1, though many different ideas have crossed my mind. If i was forced to write a story right now I think i would choose to write about a day I. spent in Israel. Though this was in most ways a simple guided tour of college students over a 10 day period. During this time i was present for the first round of Palestinian elections. I also got to meet up with old friends, tour the country, break some rules, and even get held at gun-point by israeli security, which was promptly followed by being pulled aside by (to the best of my knowledge) the Shin Bet, or Israeli Secret Service.

Unfortunately, I am currently running out of time in class. I think this would bean interesting topic to use for this assignment because it was a rather unique for this universities population, and I still have a rather large collection of pictures to use, along with locations to map out on Google maps.
