Project #1 Brainstorming (1-29-08)

Though this is just a rough estimate of what I plan to write about for our first project I feel that it will help me sort out some of the ideas that are currently running though my mind. To begin with I am not sure where I would like to begin. Depending on how long the body of the story is I may go as far back as arriving at JFK international airport, but most likely I will start my story already in Israel. The finishing point for my story will end with getting back on an Air Plane to head home. Once again though depending on the length of the body I may include information about the flight back. After all, an 11 1/2 hour plane flight is an adventure in itself, a boring one, but an adventure none the less.

Though originally I was planning on telling a story of a single day of the trip, but having had time to give this further thought, I now believe i will segment the story into a couple days of the trip and highlight the better parts of it. I will either break things down day-by-day, or most likely by event.

Also, though there may be many characters within the story, the most prominent ones will be my friends Heidi, and Deva. Though as a couple they work together, they both are very distinct characters based on how I interact with them. For instance, Heidi seems to be a little more grounded and cautious, where as every now and then I can get Deva to go along with some of my not so great ideas. For instance, wandering off into the Arab Market in Jerusalem without any real security, and against our tour guides recommendation.

Finally, as we run out of time in class I am not sure that there will be much of any contest/puzzles in this story, but it is alwasy easy to add drama in one form or another.

I like the idea. I would include a lot of details of the place itself. I've never been to Israel, so any details would be a good idea. YOu can even slam all the good, exciting, drama-driven events into a 24-hour kind of situation. I think we would know that it would not be all in one day, but I think if you focus on you, the two girls, and the place, the story will be awesome. How many people have a trip like that to talk about?

Good idea Stephen!
